Restrictive endorsement stamps have long been a part of banking and various financial transactions. The most well known form of a restrictive stamp is the bank check deposit stamp, also known as an endorsement stamp. The check endorsement stamp contains the depositor's, or payee's, specific bank account information to include company name, bank routing number, and company account number. Once the check is stamped, or endorsed, the check is restricted to only being deposited to the payee's account. After the restrictive endorsement stamp is stamped on the security or financial document, the item is no longer negiotiable. The item is essentially restrictively endorsed and cannot be used by a third party or for any other reason. Hence the name restrictive endorsement stamp.
